Seize Any Opportunity to Enjoy Auracast
I finally had a chance to test the Auracast connection with Starkey's Omega hearing aids to our Simeon Audita III soundfield system yesterday. Many thanks to the world-famous Audiology lab at Western University for hosting and providing the test HA's. As expected, it connected seamlessly through the MyStarkey app and sounded amazing, as all Auracast signals do through the most advanced hearing aids. No latency, exceptionally clear audio, outstanding speech intelligibility; Starkey has fully joined ReSound and Oticon in leading the way in this advanced direct audio capability.
Funny story: back when Starkey first announced Auracast in their Omega hearing aids in November last year, I was so excited to meet them at the ASHA conference and test out Auracast. So I marched over to their exhibit booth carrying my Simeon Audita III (it's portable after all) and asked to test the hearing aids they brought with them to the conference. They were all a bit sheepish as they explained the MyStarkey app had not yet been updated with Auracast and at the moment, one needed an Android device to connect to Auracast. We all pulled out our phones and not one of us had an Android phone . . . so I missed my chance to test back then. Starkey has since completed the work on the MyStarkey app (re-launched earlier this year) and it connects easily. And I've now learned to bring a Samsung Galaxy tablet with me to conferences just in case there's an opportunity to connect a hearing device to my Audita III without the need for the manufacturer's app. Thanks again to the talented and fabulous team at Western University!
