Honouring Truth with Action

In 2021, Truth and Reconciliation Day was created. It is a day that recognizes the damaging impact of residential schools in Canada and honours survivors.

September 30th, 2021 marked the first official day of observance. Every year, a different theme is put forward. For 2026, "Taking Truth to Action" was chosen. It aims to provide awareness, call to action, and combatting denialism.

Many Canadian adio stations have accepted the challenge by dedicating their annual broadcasting to invite speakers to share their experiences with those whom have had a connection to residential schools. Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund is proud to partner with radio stations for A Day To Listen.

Our community can click above to see radio stations that participated, full episodes for streaming, access to mental health supports, and donation link for the Wenjack Fund.

For those seeking an in person experience, feel free to wear an orange shirt, or specifically an Every Child Matters shirt. If were in the Greater Toronto Area, you can look forward to film screens, novel highlights for readers, an Every Child Matters Walk & Exhibition, and so much more.

Thank you blogTO for organizing this list.
