Acoustic Pioneer
“Auditory Processing & Hearing Screening Specialists”

Acoustic Pioneer Partnership
Supportive Hearing Systems is now the Canadian distributor for Acoustic Pioneer, a software company that has a unique suite of products to diagnose Auditory Processing Deficit (APD) and self-directed therapy programs depending on the specific diagnosis.
Simeon has long been utilized by Educational Audiologists to provide classroom audio distribution systems that support students in early grades with acoustically high quality amplification, proven to be effective in the classroom.
Partnering with Acoustic Pioneer allows Simeon to deepen our support for the valuable work of Educational Audiologists, Clinical Audiologists and Special Education Professionals in providing innovative diagnostic and therapy solutions for students with APD. Recognizing that the funding for Auditory Processing Therapy is complex and varying, Simeon is able to creatively support Audiologists who may be bridging the gap between school districts, students, parents and Special Education professionals.

What is Auditory Processing Disorder
Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) is technically not hearing loss, but a neurological gap that some kids experience when processing spoken language communications and it often manifests in the classroom. Our classroom amplification systems have been used for decades as a support to these students because it has been shown that amplification itself is therapeutic to APD. One caveat; it has to be an extremely high quality amplification system that is designed to support students with hearing loss and not just for General Education.
The signal to noise ratio improvement is simply not there for most General Education amplification systems to address either mild hearing loss or APD, while our Simeon Audita II has been used successfully for many years for this purpose. But for many kids diagnosed with APD, additional therapy solutions are needed and have proven effective with moderate and more severe cases. Acoustic Pioneer has created a suite of diagnostic and therapy solutions that address this need and we’re proud to partner with them, recognizing how complementary our respective products are in the classroom. Acoustic Pioneer’s products lessen the need for direct intervention because the on-line programs can be self-directed or at least supported by a variety of Special Education professionals and not exclusively by the Audiologist managing the therapy.
Acoustic Pioneer began its journey in 2009 actively pursuing ways to ensure that people with difficulties in auditory processing are properly identified and have access to therapeutic interventions. Their team facilitates this by developing testing tools (e.g. games, apps) that are easier, quicker, and more engaging than traditional methods; also by offering therapies and screening tools.
Acoustic Pioneer’s motivation was sparked by facilitating ways to make testing for Auditory Processing more frequent, easier to interpret, engaging, and time-efficient.
