For many parts of the world, June is a time for graduation, for summer exclusive events, vacations and more.
June each year is observed as DeafBlind Awareness Month in Canada. Unfortunately, it does not have the same prominence as bigger holidays celebrated annually by Canadians.
We desire to change that by including our community in the discussion and observation of DeafBlind Awareness Month.
“Deafblind Awareness Month is designed to help Canadians develop an understanding of, and a comfort with, the people in their communities who are Deafblind. Each June, people who are Deafblind, service providers, and supporters come together to ‘Make a Wave from Coast to Coast’, with a passion to make a difference and raise awareness.” – DeafBlindServices.ca
Supportive Hearing Systems prides itself on its longstanding relationship with the deaf and hard of hearing community, so much so that they’re thrilled to field questions from members around the globe. Our community has come to be familiar with our Simeon line of products and partner items that are often spotted in educational environments as the preferred choice of assistive listening devices. Our most successful soundfield system is the Simeon Audita, which has transcended from educational environments to assistive living environments. Recently, this month, our team assisted a senior member in Quebec who was a long-standing user of a Contego FM system and needed their receiver to be serviced. She mentioned how frustrating it was not to be able to watch daily television shows or movies, an activity those without hearing health issues often take for granted. Our team immediately took action and repaired her device. Contego FM systems have long since been discontinued, but the customer service Supportive Hearing Systems prides itself on remains. Our community continues to turn to us for support, and we are determined to provide it promptly.
Now, you’re probably wondering why we only mentioned how we support the D/HH community, and wanted to mention Supportive Hearing systems is an official reseller of BenQ interactive boards, which are a stellar tool for individuals with low vision. Students who have been diagnosed with low vision have found relief in accessing classroom material displayed on BenQ boards via their very own Chromebook. They can keep up with their classmates without missing a beat.
Before we wrap up the latest blog installment, we wanted to discuss money, and we know that can be anxiety-inducing for many alike.
